Waihapa Phoenix's Mackillop

Waihapa Phoenix’s Mackillop

Sabella Farms is very excited to announce that we are standing Jan and Michael Doyle’s gorgeous stallion Waihapa Phoenix’s Mackillop aka Mac here in King Country on our 120 acre farm.

Mac is approx. 18.1hh (home measurement) bay and he is 8 years old. He has 4 white socks and a wide blaze so he will bring the bling. Mac will also add height to smaller mares and bring his kind nature through as well.

He may also produce black as his dam was a lovely black mare with 4 white socks.

If you don’t know much about Mac or his sire here is a bit of info:

Mac’s sire is the famous SBH Phoenix. SBH Phoenix is undoubtedly one of the best Clydesdale stallions in the world. He was bred by Sugar Bush Hill Clydesdales and purchased by Wismer Clydes of Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada in 1999. He was the Junior Champion Stallion at the US National Clydesdale Show as a yearling and he was undefeated at all major shows as a three year old. He won over 25 Champion and Reserve Champion titles throughout his show career in addition to being a 3 time All-American and All-Canadian winner. These classes had a minimum of 14 stallions, Phoenix retired from showing in 2004 and has sired 19 All-American and Reserve All-American winners and has offspring in America, Canada, Scotland, Germany and now New Zealand, grand offspring are being successful in the show ring in America Canada and Scotland, he stood at stud Budweiser Clydesdales for a season, He was lucky to be chosen as a Breyer horse model! He stood at 18.1hh. He was known for his incredible nature and quality and Mac has really had that come through in him.

Macs dam is Waihapa Victory’s Skye who was a black mare standing at 16.3 hh, Sky had an amazing nature which came through in her foals and was a lovely correct mare with 4 white socks good spread of foot and tidy blaze.
Jan and Michel, spent 10 years getting frozen semen imported from Canada to New Zealand and getting Mac and his 2 siblings ( 2 mares) on the ground at considerable cost, stress and time. Their hard work has paid off as Mac has grown into a really good quality stallion.

Having had 2 stallions myself over the years I have been impressed with Macs kindness, nature and sweet disposition not only to me but the mares as well. Mac has been broken in to harness and been ridden by kids around the paddock which has really highlighted his kind nature.

We are looking to take select mares to him this season and his stud fee is $1000 and can be booked in with Jan on 027 473-3230. A standard LFG is given. Grazing and other costs are handled by Erin at Sabella Farms.

We look forward to bringing you more updates about Mac, along with pictures, videos and more as the weather allows us to do. He is a special boy and we are so very proud to have him here. We will be putting our Sabella Willow and Sabella Jasmin to him this season and look forward to seeing what arrives next spring.
